Bowyer leads final practice at Martinsville

After the first 10 minutes of the 50-minute practice session, Bowyer had posted the fastest single-lap speed followed by Kyle Busch (93.567mph), Jamie McMurray (93.530mph), Brad Keselowski (93.525mph), Ryan Newman (93.511mph), Joey Logano (93.442mph), Erik Jones (93.442mph), Ryan Blaney (93.327mph), Austin Dillon (93.313mph) and Aric Almirola (93.157mph). The line-up didn’t change throughout final practice.

Bowyer, who posted his first top-five finish of the season last weekend at Fontana — and his best result in 61 races, is still looking for his first win at the half-mile paper clip-shaped track.

“It’s just a fun, fun weekend,” Bowyer said. “Fun racetrack. It’s old-school racing at its finest. I’ve been close so many times there. It’s one that I want to win more than anything.

“With this momentum and the confidence we take from here, maybe we can.”

Logano’s 83 laps were the most completed during final practice.
