Homestead-Miami Speedway To Host 2002 Nascar Championship Weekend
Speedway Makes History as Site for NASCAR Winston Cup; Busch and Craftsman Truck Series Season-Finales

MIAMI, FL (11/03/01) - For the first time in history, all three major NASCAR series will conclude their seasons at the same track as Homestead-Miami Speedway hosts next season's NASCAR Winston Cup, Busch Grand National, and Craftsman Truck Series finales, November 15-17, 2002, Speedway President Curtis Gray announced. The announcement comes following the finalization of the 2002 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Homestead-Miami Speedway; next season's NASCAR Winston Cup and Busch Series schedules were announced earlier this month.

"We're proud to make motorsports history as the site of the first-ever NASCAR Championship Weekend," said Gray. "To host the final race of the year for all three major NASCAR series is a great honor. It promises to be one of the most action-packed weekends in all of motorsports. Mid-November in Miami is an ideal setting to conclude the NASCAR season."

2002 will mark the first year that Homestead-Miami Speedway has served as the site of the NASCAR Winston Cup season-finale, having hosted the penultimate race of the schedule every year since 1999. Homestead-Miami Speedway has served as the host of the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series season-finale since the Speedway opened in 1995. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series has traditionally visited Homestead-Miami Speedway in the spring.

As host of the 2002 NASCAR Championship Weekend, Homestead-Miami Speedway will become the first-ever site of the season-finales for all three major NASCAR series. It will also be the first time since 1993 (Atlanta) that both the Winston Cup and Busch Series will end their seasons at the same track, and the first time since 1986 that the Winston Cup season-finale will be hosted by a track other than Atlanta. With the Winston Cup finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, it will also mark the first time in the 54-year history of NASCAR's premier series that the schedule will end in the state of Florida.

The 2002 Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway will culminate with the NASCAR Winston Cup Series season-finale on Sunday, November 17, 2002. The NASCAR Busch Series season-finale will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2002, while the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season-finale will run on Friday, November 15, 2002.

Two-day ticketholders to this year's Pennzoil 400 and GNC Live Well 300 Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway will be eligible to secure tickets in advance of the 2002 NASCAR Championship Weekend. Tickets for the general public will go on sale at a later date.

Remaining tickets for this year's Pennzoil 400 and GNC Live Well 300 Weekend, November 9, 10 and 11, can be purchased by calling (305) 230-RACE, online at homesteadmiamispeedway.com or at any Ticketmaster Outlet.
