Notes: This is the first time Goodyear will bring this particular combination of left- and right-side tires to Las Vegas . . . the previous combination was run at the one-and-a-half-mile speedway by teams in all three major NASCAR series in 2004 . . . both the Nextel Cup and Busch Series will compete on the same tire codes this weekend . . . this is the first of three races at which Nextel Cup teams are scheduled to run this tire set-up in 2005 . . . in addition to Las Vegas, this combination will be run at Pocono this season . . . also, this left-side code (D-6860) will be run at Bristol with a different right-side code . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Las Vegas . . . the air pressure in the inner liners must be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.

Goodyear Quote -- Mark Keto, Lead Engineer, Stock Car Racing: "We initially tested this tire set-up with NASCAR's new aero rules package with Greg Biffle and Casey Mears back in September of 2004, and followed that up with a successful open test at Las Vegas earlier this year. The result is that we are bringing new compounds on both sides and a different left-side construction for improved handling. The compounds are a little more wear resistant with about the same level of grip as last year. Las Vegas is similar to Darlington in that you see between two- to three-seconds of give-up over the course of a fuel run."
