FORT WORTH-DALLAS (March 10, 2000) - Fans who are anxious to see the top NASCAR Winston Cup drivers may have the chance to see them race twice at Texas.

Currently, 13 Winston Cup regulars are tentatively planning to enter both the Sunday, April 2 DIRECTV 500 Winston Cup event and the Saturday, April 1 Albertson's 300 presented by Pop Secret Busch Series race. Defending race champion Mark Martin is one of them.

"I've had a lot of success in the Busch Series at Texas," said Martin. "I won the inaugural race there in 1997, and then won again last year to give Jack Roush his 200th win as a car owner in NASCAR. Since this will be my last season in the Busch Series, I hope I can get one last win at Texas. Winn-Dixie will be running a special paint scheme there, which is something they've never done before. It should be a pretty special race for us."

Another driver hoping to make his mark again in Texas is Martin's Roush Racing teammate, Jeff Burton, winner of the inaugural Interstate Batteries 500 at Texas back in 1997. Burton, who beat the odds by winning both the Busch and Cup races in Las Vegas last weekend, hopes his lucky streak will continue.

"I like racing at Texas Motor Speedway," said Burton. "I've had success there and hope to continue that. It's a fast and fun racetrack. With the Busch car, you can run wide open all the way around. The Busch races are always a pretty good show at Texas, and I'm sure the upcoming race will be just as good as they've been in the past. I'm looking forward to it."

Drivers joining Burton and Martin in attempting to qualify for the 43-car field on Sprint Pole Days include 1999 Texas Winston Cup race winner Terry Labonte, Jeff Gordon, Ward Burton, Michael Waltrip, Kenny Wallace, Steve Park, Joe Nemechek, Matt Kenseth, Kevin Lepage, Mike Skinner, Kenny Irwin and Greg Sacks.

Tickets are still available for the Albertson's 300 presented by Pop Secret at the speedway ticket office, by calling the ticket hotline at (817) 215-8500, or through all participating Ticketmaster locations. For more information, log-on to www.texasmotorspeedway.com.
