Indianapolis, IN (August 5, 1999) - Butch Mock Motorsports has merged with Galaxy Enterprises effective immediately, it was announced today in a press conference at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Butch Mock, who has been a Winston Cup team owner for the past twenty-one years, says the merger comes as a result of his view on the future of the sport of NASCAR. Mock believes that for the No. 75 team to survive over the long haul and through the rapid growth of NASCAR, there must be a realignment of the organization, positioning it to become part of a multi-car team in the near future.

"The sport has outgrown me," said Mock. "I just can't afford all of the things the team needs to be competitive. For example, wind tunnel time is very important and is equally expensive. To keep up with the larger teams, research and development is a key element, and I just don't have the resources."

Even though Mock doesn't feel he can keep up with the changing times of NASCAR, he does believe that he has built a good strong team that can be easily built upon with the right resources.

"I think I have built a good foundation for someone with additional resources to take the team to the next level," says Mock. "Galaxy Enterprises has the capability to bring resources to the No. 75 team that I do not have and could not bring to the team anytime in the near future to make this team competitive week after week. Galaxy and I want the best for the No. 75 car. This merger will bring the team to a different level of competitiveness."

Galaxy Enterprises, is owned by Darwin Oordt, an established newspaper entrepreneur who has owned thirty-eight advertising and newspaper publications in all regions of the country. Oordt is also the owner of the No. 40 Busch Grand National team driven by Butch Miller and sponsored by CHANNELLOCK, Inc., which he purchased from Doug Taylor earlier this year.

Oordt agrees with Mock that the merger is a positive step to continue the No. 75 team moving forward in the sport.

"Butch and I are unifying our efforts for the betterment of the No. 75 Winston Cup team," said Oordt. "Butch and I have different strengths to bring to the table, and we believe that by combining these strengths we can successfully make the No. 75 team a stronger entity in Winston Cup racing. Butch and I look forward to working together and we believe that by joining forces, we are on track to a successful multi-car effort in the near future."

Mock will quickly tell you that he is not leaving the sport behind.

"This is a strategic move on my part to ensure the No. 75 team grows in the future with NASCAR. The sport is changing really fast and I am just realigning the No. 75 team to be able to grow and become a force in this sport. This merger is all positive. I am not going away. I just won't have the worries I had before and I can concentrate more on the things I really love about the sport. I'm not saying I'll be turning the wrenches, but I'm still going to be here at Butch Mock Motorsports. It is hard to say to myself that I have reached my maximum level, but I started this team and I want to see it succeed and Galaxy Enterprises can take this team to the next level."

Mock began his racing career in the early 1970's as a successful short track driver and track champion at Hialeah Speedway in Florida. In 1978, he joined forces with Bob Rahilly and the two started Rahmoc Racing as joint owners. Rahilly built the cars and supplied the horsepower while Mock was behind the wheel. After driving in the Daytona 500 in 1979, Mock relinquished his driving seat to concentrate on the role of team owner. In 1993, he ventured out on his own and formed Butch Mock Motorsports. Throughout his racing career, he has worked with drivers, Neil Bonnett, Dave Marcis, Lake Speed, Morgan Shepherd, Rick Wilson, Todd Bodine, Rick Mast, and Ted Musgrave. His first win came in 1983 with driver Neil Bonnett. That year, Bonnett won the Busch Clash, his Twin 125 race, lead the most laps in the Daytona 500, won the World 600 in Charlotte, and the Atlanta Journal 500 in Atlanta. His latest win came in the 1995 Winston Open with driver, Todd Bodine. In 1987 he finished 6th in the points standings as a career high.

The No. 75 Winston Cup team will remain "Butch Mock Motorsports". The team will continue to be based out of its 38,000 sq. ft. facility in Lakeside Business Park in Mooresville, NC.
