Cassill optimistic about Dover after team-best finish at Charlotte

Statesville, N.C. (May 29, 2012) - The No. 83 BK Racing team has been on a roll. In three of the last four NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) points events, the organization has finished 26th or better. Landon Cassill, driver of the Burger King/Dr Pepper Toyota, feels like the team is just starting to hit its stride and is anxiously awaiting the ensuing results.

In last week's Coca-Cola 600, Cassill started 18th and finished 18th. It was the No. 83 team's best qualifying effort to date. It eclipsed Cassill's 20th-place starting position at Darlington. The performance also marked the team's best finish of the season, which topped Cassill's 20th-place finish at Richmond. It was the first time that the No. 83 team started and finished inside the top-20. Cassill looks to add another benchmark this weekend in the FedEx 400 at Dover International Speedway.

Cassill has made three NSCS starts at Dover. His best finish is 30th place, which came in May 2011. In four Nationwide Series starts, Cassill has never finished outside the top-25. He earned his best finish of 18th place in 2007. In his lone Truck Series start at Dover (2008), he started 24th and finished 24th.

Cassill's crew chief Doug Richert has served at Dover 28 times during his career. He has accrued 10 top-10s, four top-fives and one win (2005).

The No. 83 team is now 32nd in the owner point standings.

"Last week's performance at Charlotte was a real confidence booster for us. We knew that if we kept doing the right things at the shop and at the track that the finishes would start improving. Charlotte affirmed that for us. I feel like we're getting stronger each week and that each time we unload our Burger King/Dr Pepper Toyota, it's a little bit faster and more competitive than the week before. It gets me excited as a driver. I know we have a long way to go, but I'm really confident that we're on our way.

"I like Dover a lot. It's like a big Bristol (Motor Speedway). It's high-banked. It's concrete. It's a tough race track. It's a 400-lap race. It's not easy, but it's one of the best.

"It's a difficult place to get around. The way the rubber wears out, it makes the grooves tough to get a hold of. Cars are really tight on entry and exit, so you have to be respectful of the drivers around you. When it's time to get after it, you really have to go and you have to use up the race track."
