No. 07 team grabs second Checkers/Rally's Double Drive-Thru Challenge victory
Clint Bowyer's No. 07 over-the-wall crew claimed the Checkers/Rally's Double Drive-Thru Challenge win in Saturday night's Bank of America 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C.
Bowyer's crew spent 345.178 seconds on pit road on its way to a runner-up finish in the Nextel Cup event.
"We're all excited to win the Checkers/Rally's Double Drive Thru Challenge," said crew chief Gil Martin. "Mr. Jack's Crew has been the model of consistency this year and we had another good night at Charlotte. We knew when the Chase started that our entire team would have to step up in a big way and this award definitely illustrates this team's ability to answer that call."
Checkers/Rally's will award the Richard Childress Racing team with an $11,000 check for winning the weekly competition. An additional $111,150 prize will be presented to the over-the-wall crew with the most wins at the completion of the 36-race Nextel Cup schedule.
Bowyer's No. 07 over-the-wall crew consists of: Carey Wimbish (jackman), Dail Long (front-tire carrier), Shane Westerberg (front-tire changer), Dustin Long (rear-tire carrier), Jake Lind (rear-tire changer), Mike Morrison (gasman), Clint "Ratto" Almquist (catch can) and Troy Welty (eighth man).
With just five races remaining in the Nextel Cup season, Mark Martin's No. 01 crew and Jeff Gordon's No. 24 crew are currently tied for the lead in the season-long competition with four wins each.
To win, teams are required to finish on the lead lap while spending the least amount of time on pit road. Checkers/Rally's is in its third season as title sponsor for the Pit Crew Challenge.
