Dennis Huth Resigns

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (December 20, 1999) The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing has announced that Dennis Huth, who most recently served as vice president of touring operations and international development, has resigned to pursue other opportunities. Tom Deery and Kevin Triplett have been given added responsibilities in the sanctioning body's competition departments. "We will continue to work with Dennis as a consultant with our NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and touring series. His many years of experience will continue to be a valuable asset to NASCAR...we wish him the best in his new endeavors," said Mike Helton, senior vice president and chief operating officer of NASCAR.

"Tom and Kevin have a combined 40-plus years of experience in motorsports and I have no doubt they are the best replacements to step in and manage the trucks and the touring series."

Deery, who has served as vice president of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series since 1997, will take on additional duties that include overseeing all of NASCAR Touring, the sanctioning body's nine regional touring series. Triplett, who has served as director of operations since 1997 with focus on the NASCAR Winston Cup Series and NASCAR Busch Series, will take on the additional duty of overseeing the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Deery joined NASCAR in 1996 in the newly-created position of administrative operations manager, and took over the weekly racing program one year later. In his new role, Deery will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series, the largest sanctioned weekly racing program in the United States. In addition, he works closely with the tour directors of NASCAR's nine regional touring series: NASCAR Winston West Series, Slim Jim All Pro Series, Busch North Series, Featherlite Modified Series, Goody's Dash Series, Raybestos Brakes Northwest Tour, Featherlite Southwest Series, Busch All-Star Series and the RE/MAX Challenge Series.

Triplett joined NASCAR in 1994 and served as media coordinator for the NASCAR Winston Cup Series before shifting to his current role in the summer of 1997. Since that time, he has been responsible for day-to-day operations for the country's premier racing series, the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, and the NASCAR Busch Series, one of the country's most popular racing divisions.
