White lightning strikes Dover June 2 - 4 with $ 1.5 Million weekend for Miller Genuine Draft 500 & GM Goodwrench/Delco Battery 200

Dover, DE - NASCAR Winston Cup and Grand National competitors will compete for over $1,500,000 in posted awards as White Lightning strikes the Monster Mile with the Miller Genuine Draft 500 and the GM Goodwrench/Delco Battery 200, June 2 - 4. The first events on Dover's state-of-the-art concrete surface will include the richest Winston Cup purse ever posted at a one-mile superspeedway.

Over $1.25 million is up for grabs for the 27th annual Miller Genuine Draft 500 Winston Cup classic on Sunday, June 4, while the GM Goodwrench/Delco Battery 200 Grand National event on Saturday, June 3, carries a purse of $277,000. Both represent increases of more than 25% from 1994.

"Dover Downs is always investing in our future and the future growth of NASCAR racing," commented track president Denis McGlynn. "Part of that investment is reflected in our new track surface and continued grandstand expansion, but increasing the rewards to the teams who compete here is another important part of moving forward as a premier NASCAR facility," he added.
