Chevrolet drivers Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon combined to win seven NASCAR Winston Cup championships in the 1990s and rank 1-2 in driver of the decade standings determined by the average finish in 17 categories.

Earnhardt, a 48-year-old Kannapolis, N.C., native, is tied with Richard Petty with seven career NASCAR Winston Cup titles. Earnhardt won championships in 1990, '91, '93 and '94. In 309 starts in the '90s, Earnhardt won 35 races, 14 poles, scored 125 top-five finishes and 194 top-10s in the No. 3 GM Goodwrench Service Plus Monte Carlo.

Gordon, who began his full-time NASCAR Winston Cup career in 1993, made 223 starts in the '90s and won championships in 1995, '97 and '98. The 28-year-old Vallejo, Calif., native drove his No. 24 DuPont Automotive Finishes Monte Carlo to 49 victories, 30 poles, 118 top-five finishes and 144 top-10s.

The five drivers who won championships in the '90s, Earnhardt, Gordon, Dale Jarrett, Terry Labonte and Alan Kulwicki were included in the rankings along with Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace because of their outstanding performances during the decade.
