Edwards destroyed his primary car after cutting his right rear tire during the second round of qualifying on Friday. The No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing crew worked overtime to prepare Edwards car for the second practice of the weekend which the driver came back with a fast lap of 191.564 mph.

Austin Dillon, who qualified fifth for Sunday’s Cobalt 400, was second quick with a lap of 190.894 mph, followed by Casey Mears (190.698 mph)— also powered by a Childress engine — Kasey Kahne (190.355 mph) and Brad Keselowski (190.295 mph).

Trevor Bayne (190.282 mph), Ryan Newman (190.168 mph), Chase Elliott (190.168 mph), AJ Allmendinger (190.027 mph) and polesitter Kurt Busch (190.020 mph) rounded out the top10 in practice. Busch cut a tire after his first run but was able to return to the garage without incident. 

Jimmie Johnson, who was 13th in single laps runs (188.636 mph), posted the Best 10 Consecutive Lap average of 187.325 mph. Austin Dillon (188.539 mph) was second followed by Mears (188.237 mph), Matt Kenseth (187.696 mph) and Kurt Busch (187.648 mph)

Denny Hamlin and Brian Vickers both posted 36 laps — the most of the session. The drivers earned the 16th and 31st-spots, respectively, on the time sheet.
