Nadeau's Results: Jerry Nadeau started the Save Mart/Kragen 350 from third place. A proven road racer, with experience throughout the United States and Europe, Nadeau was looking forward to a top finish in the first road course race of the 1999 NASCAR Winston Cup Series season. On the first lap, Nadeau passed Tony Stewart for second place and held off Rusty Wallace to keep it. He stayed in the top-five until lap 31, when the No. 9 Melling Racing/Cartoon Network Ford's transmission locked in third gear. The team worked throughout the day to fix the problem, only to have it happen twice more. Though the team was discouraged, they took some solace in the fact that toward the end of the race Nadeau was running lap times comparable to, and at times faster than, the race leaders.

Nadeau's Thoughts on the Save Mart/Kragen 350: "We can't help but be a little disappointed - and a little frustrated, too. Our transmission locked in third gear on lap 30 or so and every time we thought we had it fixed, it would jam again. We just had some gremlins get us today. "My guys did a good job. They worked really hard, but there's not much you can do during the race with a problem like that. We had a really god car. I just wish we could have found out just how good it was."
