There will be another Earnhardt in the field for the Daytona 500, if Kerry Earnhardt as anything to say about it. Kerry, the older sibling of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. will attempt to make the field for the season-opening event, and four other races throughout the season.

Earnhardt, 34, will pilot the No. 33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet.

"The chance to put Kerry in an RCR car with sponsorship from Bass Pro Shops is going to be a great opportunity for everyone involved," said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. "I've known Kerry for years and Johnny Morris (founder of Bass Pro Shops) has been a personal friend of mine and a sponsor of RCR for quite a while now. We look forward to giving Kerry the chance to be competitive and seeing what the future brings."

Earnhardt has only made one previous start in the Cup series, in Michigan of 2000. While finding victory lane four times while running in the ARCA series, NASCAR success as eluded the elder Earnhardt. In 65 Busch series starts, he scored only two top five and five top tens.

"Driving for my dad was obviously my first choice, but driving for Richard was always my second choice," Kerry Earnhardt said. "I know that Richard is look at me as a talent and not just my name. It's just five races, but I'm looking at it as an opportunity to be associated with a competitive team again, and RCR is all about winning."
