An official announcement of Cassill’s move was made Wednesday morning during the Charlotte Motor Speedway Media Tour.
Cassill, 26, will become a teammate to Chris Buescher, who will drive the team’s No. 34 Fords. The team recently announced a technical alliance with Roush Fenway Racing.
“I feel like Front Row Motorsports is a great fit for me,” Cassill said. “I’ve got several years of experience in the series now, and being a part of this team will help me take the next step in my career. I’m grateful to Bob Jenkins and Ford Motor Company for the opportunity and can’t wait to get in the car.”
Cassill has run most or all of the Cup season the last five years with a variety of teams, including Germain Racing, Phoenix Racing, Circle Sport and Hillman Racing. He’s made 187 starts in the series and his career-best fourth-place finish at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway came during the 2014 season.
A spokesperson with Front Row Motorsports declined to comment on the move.
Cassill has also made 118 starts in the Xfinity Series with one top-five finish and eight starts in the Camping World Truck Series. He finished a career-best 12th in the Xfinity Series season standings in 2014.
David Gilliland has piloted the No. 38 since the beginning of the 2012 season. The veteran Cup driver has yet to lock down a new ride for 2016.
