Kyle Larson was fastest of all in the first Sprint Cup practice of the weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Larson was nine thousandths quicker than Kyle Busch. The top seven drivers were all within a single hundredth of one another.
Larson's best lap stood at 28.486 seconds (133.708mph). Larson's teammate Jamie McMurray was third, followed by Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski inside the top five. Of the six drivers that ran ten consecutive laps, Dale Earnhardt Jr. showed the best pace.
Edwards told the No. 19 team that "It's a little loose off two, a little snug around the center of three and four. It's better, for sure better. We just fixed our biggest problem." Crew chief Darian Grubb will add more wedge prior to the next practice.
Incidents
Early in the session, Martin Truex Jr. brought out a caution when he suffered a flat tire after five laps of running. "It was kind of a crazy deal. Luckily, it didn't hurt anything," he said afterwards. Tony Stewart also caught the wall with the right side of his machine.
David Ragan was the third-highest Toyota driver in seventh but complained of a tight condition. "It got a little too tight through three and four on my money lap there. I was able to throttle up but I felt like I might of crossed the seam too early and lose some front turn there."
