Larson tops final practice at Chicagoland

Kyle Larson swept the top spot in Xfinity Series practices on Saturday posting a fast lap of 183.299mph (29.460-sec.) in Happy Hour at Chicagoland Speedway.

Rookie Chase Elliott posted the most laps (56) and was second-quick in single lap runs with a speed of 182.883-seconds and was followed by fellow Chasers Kyle Busch (182.828mph), Carl Edwards (182.624mph), Kurt Busch (182.482mph), Joey Logano (182.439mph) and Martin Truex Jr. (182.309).

Kasey Kahne posted the eighth fastest lap (182.291mph), followed by Brad Keselowski (182.223mph), Ryan Newman (182.033mph), Jimmie Johnson (182.020mph) and rookie Ryan Blaney (181.293mph). Other Chase contenders included Denny Hamlin (14th), Jamie McMurray (17th), Matt Kenseth (18th), Austin Dillon (19th), Kevin Harvick (22nd), Tony Stewart (23rd) and Chris Buescher (26th).

Johnson led the Best 10 Consecutive Lap category with a speed of 179.687mph, followed by Elliott (178.724mph), Harvick (178.425mph), Truex (178.259mph), Blaney (178.161mph), Keselowski (178.084mph), Kahne (178.073mph), Kyle Busch (177.903mph), Ryan Newman (177.798mph) and Paul Menard (177.737mph).

Kurt Busch was 10th followed by Austin Dillon, Logano, Kenseth, Stewart, Alex Bowman, Larson, Edwards, Hamlin and Casey Mears.

Thirty drivers completed 10-lap runs.

Ty Dillon continued to fill in for Regan Smith who is on paternity leave.

Note: Richard Petty Motorsports swapped spotters this weekend. The team confirmed that Joel Edmonds is now working with Aric Almirola. Former Xfinity Series driver Stevie Reeves is providing eyes in the sky for Brian Scott.
