Live NASCAR Cup Series: The GEICO 500 from Talladega

Follow our minute-by-minute updates as the NASCAR Cup Series hits the high banks of Talladega for the GEICO 500.

By: Charles Bradley

Summary

Status: Stopped
See you next time!
Kinda fitting to leave the final word with Bubba after a weekend where he was subjected to something nobody should have to deal with.
Wallace: "It's been tough. It's been hell, maybe not hell, but it's hectic. Look at these guys here [pointing to his fans], first time here from Atlanta. The deal is changing. I wanted to show whoever it was they ain't going to take away my smile. I shoulda won that damn race, but the stars didn't align and we ran out of gas. The pre-race deal was one of the hardest things in my life, with all the team and supporters. I'm still smiling."
Wallace is high-fiving his fans.
Wallace, who finished 14th, is waving to the fans and walking across the infield grass.
Blaney: "Just trying to block the best we could. Top, bottom. 20 got to my outside. Not sure if I was three wide, hate it for him, we were just beating and banging to the line."
Pick the bones out of that one. What a crazy finish.
Race order: Blaney, Stenhouse, Almirola, Hamlin, Jones, Buescher and Bowman.
Almirola finished third, going sideways!
Blaney, who won the race by an inch, sent Jones into the fence.
But Blaney's win is confirmed.
Timing and scoring is under review...
Blaney wins!
Jones is wrecked, Almirola is wrecked.
Blaney blocking Jones.
Blaney hits the front.
Blaney pulls out.
Harvick, Buescher, Blaney.
We get the white flag.
Stenhouse pulls out away from Blaney.
Stenhouse gets to Blaney and pushes hard.
Harvick leads Buescher.
Blaney is left hung out to dry by a slow starting Stenhouse.
Let's find out.
Will the leaders hang on and block, or will someone come with a big head of steam? Will someone run out of gas?
Lights are off on the pace car.
How many overtime attempts will it take to get this settled?
The restart order is Blaney, Harvick, Stenhouse, Buescher, Custer, Keselowski. How about Ryan Newman in seventh?
Wallace also pits, going for four tires.
Logano, Kurt Busch and Bowman also pit.
Reddick pits.
We are going to overtime.
Harvick: "I just ran out of room there."
Johnson went to the outside of Stenhouse, and Harvick was being pushed by Buescher. He had a big run and just drove over Johnson, who moved just slightly to his left. There was just no room.
Looks like Johnson zigged and Harvick zagged.
That, as they say, changes everything.
Johnson spins! Hit by Harvick.
Blaney leads Stenhouse, Bowman and Johnson.
Blaney leads!
Bowman is pushing Stenhouse.
