Martinsville Speedway Sprint Cup Schedule Unchanged For 2008

The 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule at Martinsville Speedway will be a repeat performance of the 2007 schedule.

The first 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup stop at Martinsville will be the Goody's Cool Orange 500 on Sunday, March 30. The second stop, the SUBWAY 500 on Sunday, October 19, will again be the sixth race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

Both Martinsville Sprint Cup Series events in 2008 will be supported by a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event.

"We like where our Sprint Cup races are on the schedule," said Martinsville Speedway president Clay Campbell. "Excitement for the season will be building in late March and in October we're right in the middle of the Chase for the Sprint Cup. It doesn't get much better than that."

The Kroger 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race will be run on Saturday, March 29, the day before the Goody's Cool Orange 500. Qualifying for the Goody's Cool Orange 500 will be on March 28, while time trials for the Kroger 250 will be on March 29. The Kroger 200 Craftsman Truck Series race is set for Saturday, October 18, with the SUBWAY 500 on October 19. Qualifying for the SUBWAY 500 will be on October 17 while time trials for the Kroger 200 will be on October 18.

Other Martinsville Speedway events in 2008 include:

* The Made In America Whelen 300 NASCAR Modified Tour race on Sunday, September 21.

* The Bailey's 300 NASCAR Late Model Stock race on Sunday, September 28.

"Our schedule is solid from top to bottom for 2008," said Campbell. "With the two Cup and Truck weekends, the Modifieds and Late Models, we've got a lot of excitement on tap for race fans."
