Milwaukee, Wis. (February 6, 2007) -- Wisconsin NASCAR champion Matt Kenseth is returning to The Milwaukee Mile to race on the speedway's traditional Governor's Cup weekend, August 24-26.

Kenseth, the 2003 NASCAR Winston Cup champion, is a native of Cambridge, Wis. near Madison. He has driven full time in NASCAR's premier division since 2000. Last year alone, he won four races and finished second in standings, driving for NASCAR powerhouse Roush Racing.

"We are thrilled to welcome home Wisconsin's biggest NASCAR star, Matt Kenseth. We know he's not just going to show up on Sunday, August 26, he'll be racing for the win, which will be that much more exciting for our fans," commented Milwaukee Mile president & CEO Andy Randall. "It's a pleasure to be working with Matt's dad Roy in promotion of the Wisconsin All-Star late model race."

Roy Kenseth has agreed to promote the Wisconsin All-Star late model event through his successful RK Race Promotions company.

The Wisconsin All-Star 50 will attract the finest short track late model racers in Wisconsin and the Midwest, competing in a one-day format on Sunday, August 26. Matt Kenseth will be competing in a super late model stock car, similar to what he raced in Wisconsin and throughout the country.

Kenseth stepped from these cars to a full-time NASCAR Busch Series ride in 1997 with his fellow Wisconsin late model racer-turned championship winning crew chief Robbie Reiser. The two had spirited duels across Wisconsin short tracks in the early 1990's, each capturing their share of race wins and championships at speedways in Kaukauna, Wis., Slinger, Wis,. and in Oregon, Wis.

RK Race Promotions is offering a special Matt Kenseth Hospitality Package which includes a race ticket in a designated 'Kenseth fan' grandstand section, and the opportunity to take part in a question and answer event with Matt on race day at an arranged event. For details on this hospitality package, contact RK Race Promotions by calling (608) 209-1188, or via e-mail at mattsdad@mattkenseth.com.

"Matt has been looking for an opportunity to come back and compete at The Milwaukee Mile," Roy Kenseth stated. "Matt and I have always enjoyed going there and we have been looking for the right opportunity to go back there and race. I am also excited that I am going to be promoting the event that he will be competing in."

This will be the first time since 2001 that Wisconsin's biggest NASCAR star is scheduled to race on America's Legendary Oval.

On an action-packed stock car weekend, featuring NASCAR's next stars and grass roots racers, Kenseth will join over 200 stock car drivers in four divisions on The Mile's traditional Governor's Cup weekend, August 24-26.

Highlights include a 150-lap ASA Late Model Challenge Series race and Mid-American Stock Car Series events on Saturday, with the Governor's Cup 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series race and Kenseth competing in the Wisconsin All-Star 50 late model feature event Sunday afternoon.

Race fans can take advantage of a Milwaukee Mile Stock Car Package, which encompasses the entire Governor's Cup race weekend in August and both NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event days in late June.

Individual race day tickets are also available to the Sunday, August 26 action by calling The Milwaukee Mile ticket office at (414) 453-8277. For event weekend details, visit the speedway's website, www.milwaukeemile.com.
