Notably missing from this week's penalty report are any repercussions for title contendersMartin Truex Jr. and Jimmie Johnson, who failed post-race LIS inspection at Chicagoland Speedway.

Their absence is due to NASCAR's decision to wave the P2 penalty they would have incurred. NASCAR Executive Vice President and Chief Racing Development Officer Steve O'Donnell revealed this and more during a teleconference earlier today. To see why they will not penalize those two teams and their updated plans for policing rule breakers moving forward, CLICK HERE.

Meanwhile, Roush-Fenway Racing and Richard Petty Motorsports were not so lucky. Due to violating NASCAR's lug nut policy, the teams of Aric Almirola (RPM) and Greg Biffle (RFR) have been reprimanded with crew chiefs Drew Blickensderfer and Brian Pattie each fined $10,000.

Seven Sprint Cup teams also received written warnings. Here's the full layout of those warnings...

Team Infraction Penalty
No. 14 Stewart Haas Racing (Tony Stewart) Failed template inspection three times, pre-race Written warning (1) and the loss of 15 minutes of practice time
No. 10 Stewart Haas Racing (Danica Patrick) Failed LIS twice, pre-race  Written warning (3)
No. 41 Stewart Haas Racing (Kurt Busch) Failed LIS twice, pre-race  Written warning (3)
No. 2 Team Penske (Brad Keselowski) Failed template inspection twice, pre-race Written warning (1)
No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports (Jimmie Johnson) Failed template inspection twice, pre-race Written warning (4), loss of pit stall selection for next race
No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports (Jimmie Johnson) Failed template inspection twice, pre-race Written warning (1)
No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports (Alex Bowman/Jeff Gordon/Dale Earnhardt Jr.) Failed template inspection twice, pre-race Written warning (3)

Every time a team gets four written warnings, they lose pit stall selection for the next race, which is the situation ROTY contender and Chase contender Chase Elliott now finds himself in. Another Chaser, Tony Stewart, will lose 15 minutes of practice time this weekend.

Xfinity and Truck penalties

In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, the No. 2 Richard Childress Racing team has been hit with a written warning (1) for failing template inspection twice during pre-race. On the Truck side, the No. 18 Kyle Busch Motorsports team has been hit with a P2 level penalty. After winning the race, Busch's truck failed post-race LIS inspection. As a result, crew chief Wes Ward has been fined $6,000 and placed on probation for the remainder of the calendar year. The team has also lost 10 championship owner points.
