Both drivers cited for crossing a live track before being told they were allowed to do so.

NASCAR released penalties on Wednesday stemming from infractions at Dover International Speedway over the weekend.

Both Sprint Cup driver Trevor Bayne and Jennifer Jo Cobb, from the Camping World Trucks Series, were cited with penalties (Sections 12.1, 12.8 b and 10.4.2.1) for leaving their vehicles during a race and walking across the track prior to be attended to by safety crews (Video of Cobb confronting another Truck on live track)

The below image is of Bayne after he exited his wrecked car during the Cup race.

Bayne, who drives the No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford, clipped Michael Annett coming into Turn 1 on Lap 174 and slammed into the inside wall before sliding up the track. After walking down from the corner, he was called to the NASCAR hauler after the race. On Wednesday,  Bayne, 24, was fined $20,000 and placed on probation until the end of the season. He is currently 31st in the point standings in his first full season on the Cup tour.

Cobb was already one lap off the pace in the No. 10 Chevy when made contact with eventual truck race winner Tyler Reddick on Lap 14. Cobb, who turns 42 on June 12, climbed from her truck and waited on the track to show her displeasure with Reddick. She too was called to the NASCAR hauler, then fined $5,000 and placed on NASCAR probation through Dec. 31. The Kansas City native is currently 15th in the point standings.

Although it used to be common place for drivers to walk unaided to the ambulance that changed following Tony Stewart’s accident in a sprint car last August where Kevin Ward lost his life.
