Let's get to the point.

NASCAR released details on its enhanced race format on Thursday — including stage lengths for each of the events.
Races in the top three tours — Monster Energy Cup, Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series — will be broken into three segments: Stage 1, Stage 2 and the Final Stage. The first two segments each will feature 25 to 30 percent of the race’s total distance to be determined before the event (See the below charts for Stage lengths).
The winner of each of the first two stages will receive one Playoff Point after the green-checkered flag waves. The top-10 finishers in each stage will receive regular driver points — 10 points to the winner of the stage, nine points to the second-place driver, eight points to third-place and so on in descending scale.
The Final Stage winner will receive five-playoff points in addition to 40 points for winning the race. The second-place finisher receives 35 points, third-place driver earns 34 points, fourth-place 33 points, and so on.
Following the regular season (or first 26 races prior to the Playoffs), the top 10 drivers will receive additional Playoff Points with top driver in the standings receiving 15 Playoff Points. Second-place in the standings receives 10 points. The third-place driver is rewarded eight Playoff Points, with fourth-place earning seven points down to one point for 10th-place.
What Chase?
When the Playoffs kick off at Chicagoland Speedway, points will be reset at 2,000 points plus the Playoff Points drivers have accumulated throughout the regular season. Drivers that do not qualify for the Playoffs will not accumulate Playoff Points.
Race winners still automatically advance to the next round of playoffs and the drivers advancing will be reseeded according to playoff points. Drivers eliminated in the playoffs retain their Playoff Points.
Drivers that qualify for the Championship 4 at Homestead-Miami Speedway will not accrue Playoff Points. The first driver to the finish line wins the title.
A few housekeeping notes
Drivers can begin accumulating Playoff Points starting with the Can-Am Duel at Daytona. The top 10 drivers will receive points with the winners earning 10 points, nine points for the second-place and so on.
If a race is affected by inclement weather, the event will be considered complete following Stage 2. If the race is called for rain, drivers will earn both Stage 2 and Final Stage points at the conclusion.
