This season, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East returns to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park for the first time since 2009 and to commemorate the occasion the track announced a special throwback paint scheme for the event.

The Busch North Throwback 100 will be held on July 8. Participating teams have decided to participate in the throwback paint schemes for the 28th NKNPSE race held at the track.

The track has encouraged teams to feature their cars with former series paint schemes of pioneers who competed in the series like Joey Kourafas, Jamie Aube and Andy Santerre.

Rev Racing, which fields cars as part of NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity program, has announced two of the paint schemes that will be featured in the race.

The first will be Ruben Garcia Jr.’s No. 6 Toyota, which will feature a paint scheme formerly used by 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East champion Kyle Larson, now the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series point leader.

Larson is the first NASCAR Drive for Diversity driver to win a touring series championship as well as the first of the program’s graduates to win a race in NASCAR’s premier series.

The second car featured will be driven by Collin Cabre and will display a paint scheme honoring Ruben Pardo, who was the first Mexico-born driver to win a NKNPSE race. Pardo drove to a road course win at Connecticut’s Lime Rock Park in 2006.

Each throwback paint scheme will feature the current driver’s name over the driver-side door, and the name of the driver the car is honoring over the passenger side door.

Over the years, drivers such as Ricky Craven, Ken Bouchard, Mike McLaughlin, Santerre, Mike Stefanik, Martin Truex Jr., Eddie MacDonald, Matt Kobyluck, Trevor Bayne and Ryan Truex have won in K&N Pro Series East races at the historic Connecticut oval.
