Nationwide is currently in the last season of a seven-year sponsorship of NASCAR’s secondary tour. Nationwide will serve as the primary sponsor for 12 Sprint Cup races in 2015 and 13 events for both 2016 and 2017. The insurance company will act as an associate sponsor on the No. 88 Chevy for the additional events.
This is Earnhardt’s 15th season on the Sprint Cup tour. He’s been with Hendrick Motorsports since 2008 and is currently fifth in the Cup point standings. The 39-year-old racer 20 career Cup wins and two Nationwide Series titles.
As for Nationwide's other personal services contracts in NASCAR, Ricky Stenhouse Jr.'s deal ends at the end of this year with the next steps to be determined. Nationwide will continue to work with Danica Patrick moving forward.
Perhaps the biggest question to come from the Earnhardt announcement was the status of Farmer's Insurance moving forward. Farmer's, which has sponsored Kahne since he moved to Hendrick Motorsports in 2012, is expected to support the No. 5 team's effort for the next three years.
