After the Goody's Headache Powder 500, Ken Schrader and Wally Dallenbach left for Colorado for a trip through the Rocky Mountains on dirt bikes. Schrader and Dallenbach participated in the same event last year. Although Schrader thinks the trip is fun, it also helps raise money for charity. Before heading to Colorado, Schrader had to make a pit stop because he couldn't resist some good short track racing. He competed in an ARCA event at Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Ill., which he won from the pole. Then he raced at St. Charles Speedway in St. Pete, Mo., where he also visited victory lane.

"I can assure you that we won't have a problem with lead weights this time," said Andy Petree, car owner/crew chief of the No. 33 Skoal Bandit Racing Chevrolet. "I think it would be great to sit on the pole, but I am looking for the victory. We have really developed our program at New Hampshire. We obviously had the right set-up for qualifying and now we have the set-up for a victory."

"We had a car capable of sitting on the pole at the last race here, but we had a little problem on our qualifying lap," Schrader said. "We were forced to requalify during second-round and had the fastest time. We had a good run here last month and probably would've had a better finish if we didn't have a vibration early in the race. This weekend we'll have something for the race."

The Skoal Bandit Racing team will utilize "Sam Bass," the same car in which Schrader started 26th and finished ninth at New Hampshire International Speedway last month. It is also the same car that started seventh and finished fourth at Richmond in June. "Sam Bass" has been labeled the best car in Petree's Skoal Bandit Racing stable with one top-five and one top-10 finish in just two starts.
