Elliott Sadler's Pit Crew Wins at Watkins Glen

Elliott Sadler's pit crew took home the first-place check of $20,000 for winning Sunday's (Aug. 10) McDonald's Drive-Thru Pit Championship fueled by POWERade at Watkins Glen International.

The victory was the first for Sadler's pit crew, which is ranked seventh in the overall McDonald's Drive-Thru Pit Championship point standings. Sadler's team also became the 13th different pit crew winner in the first 22 NASCAR Winston Cup point races of the season.

"The M&Ms pit crew works hard week in and week out to get the job done for me on pit road," said Sadler. "These days with competition as tight as it is, pit crews are essential to get valuable track position. Their jobs are as important as mine. I'm real proud they won at the Glen."

Sadler's No. 38 M&Ms Ford spent the least amount of time on pit road at Watkins Glen International - 84.106 seconds. Bobby Labonte's Interstate Batteries Chevrolet was second with 85.287 and Casey Mears' Target Dodge was third with 86.504.

Sadler's over-the-wall crew consists of: Dave Smith (front tire changer & car chief), Scott Wood (jackman), Kevin Hall (front tire carrier), Ray Holm (Rear Tire Changer), Paul Volk (rear tire carrier), Norman Koshimizu (gasman) and Danny Dickerson (catch can). The team's crew chief is Raymond Fox III.

During each 2003 NASCAR Winston Cup points event, the participating team whose car spends the least amount of aggregate time off the race track will be named the weekly winner of the McDonald's Drive-Thru Pit Championship fueled by POWERADE, provided the team's driver takes the green flag at the beginning of the event and the checkered flag at the conclusion of the event. A timing line at the entrance and exit of pit road triggers the car's transponder and records the total time spent off the race track.

The point distribution per race is: 43 for first place, descending in increments of one. The team that records the most standing points during the season will receive a $200,000 bonus at the end of the year.

The McDonald's Drive-Thru Pit Championship fueled by POWERADE is the largest monetary contingency program in NASCAR history.
