Waynesboro, PA August 29, 1998 . . .Winston Cup driver Kyle Petty and NASCAR Busch Series standout Dennis Setzer, who has been testing the Winston Cup waters, have been added to the impressive list of racers and personalities that will be part of the Seventh Annual Dave Marcis Day. Both drivers will be coming from a weekend of NASCAR stock car racing at Richmond, VA International Raceway.

Also included in the FREE DAY of activities will be appearances by the "Dean of Motor Sports Journalism" Chris Economaki, NASCAR Winston Cup pace car driver Buster Auton, Busch Series racers Tom Peck and Tracy Leslie along with, of course, Winston Cup veteran Dave Marcis, and it is set for Sunday, September 13, 9 a.m. Two legends of NASCAR Winston Cup racing, former champion Bobby Allison and Harry Gant, one of the most popular racers ever to with NASCAR, will also be on hand for autograph sessions. Petty and Setzer will join in all the activities.

There will be day long activities at George & Sons Construction Co. in Waynesboro, PA. including simulator rides, a car show, display cars and more. Autograph sessions will start after lunch. And all activities, including soda ( courtesy of NASCAR), will be FREE.

The only places where people attending Dave Marcis Day will be able to spend money is at the food and souvenir stands.

Display cars will include the Kodak #4 Winston Cup car, the Texaco #28 Winston Cup car, the McDonald's #94 Winston Cup entry, the #3 Goodwrench car and the Heilig-Myers #90 Winston Cup machine plus sprint cars, stock cars, and drag racing vehicles.

Bruce Larson, one of the all time greats of drag racing, will be there with his USA#1 Funny Car with which he won the NHRA Winston World Title. Dirt track legends that will be on hand to meet fans and sign autographs include Tommy Hinnershitz, Paul Lotier, Fred Rahmer, Ray Tilley, Lynn Paxton, Smokey Snellbaker, Red Nininger, Denny Bonebraker, Johnny Grum, Ed Zirkle, Joe Lingle and others.

ARCA Bondo/Mar-Hyde Series driver Andy Belmont will also be part of the day long activities that will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

More than 10,000 people turned out for Dave Marcis Day in 1997 and organizers expect that there will be at least that many and more on Sunday, September 13.

The car show will include street rods, classic cars and trucks with free dash plaques going to the first 200 registered vehicles. Registration will close at 12:00 noon and there will be trophies for all classes.

The Seventh Annual Dave Marcis Day will take place at D.L. George and Sons, 13321 Midvale Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268. The site is located three miles east of Waynesboro on Route 16, proceed South on Midvale Road about 1/4 mile. For information telephone 717.765.4700.
