Phoenix: Dodge teams qualifying quotes

KASEY KAHNE (No. 9 Budweiser Dodge Charger) Qualified 5th "I was pretty good in one and two, but a little tight in four. It was a great run for us, the best we've qualified in a while at this track. Last year, we were really bad here; the tests, ...

KASEY KAHNE (No. 9 Budweiser Dodge Charger) Qualified 5th

"I was pretty good in one and two, but a little tight in four. It was a great run for us, the best we've qualified in a while at this track. Last year, we were really bad here; the tests, we weren't very good. The guys at Gillett Evernham have done a nice job bringing us a good car. I hope we can get something like that for Saturday night. It would be a lot of fun to have the Budweiser Dodge that good in the race."

JUAN PABLO MONTOYA (No. 42 Big Red Gum Dodge Charger) Qualified 15th

"I thought that we were a lot better in practice. I made a mistake on the second lap otherwise it would have been faster. I got a little wide in Turns 1 and 2 when I was staring into the sun, but that happens here. I like how our Big Red Gum Dodge came off the hauler in practice and qualifying, so we take a good look at our combination in practice tomorrow and try and make it faster for Saturday night."

REED SORENSON (No. 41 Target Dodge Charger) Qualified 20th

"We'll be OK. Our Target Dodge is real good in race trim, we just didn't qualify well. We started out in race trim for the first 30 minutes of practice and we we're really good. I'm looking forward to tomorrow to get back out there and get laps in under some more qualifying trim and try to dial it in for the race on Saturday night."

DARIO FRANCHITTI (No. 43 Wrigley's Juicy Fruit Dodge Charger) Qualified 21st

"After last week it feels really good. The guys on the 40 team did a great job all week. It was a pretty bad week for us not getting in the show last weekend. Everybody pulled together and the whole organization did an amazing job. That's what teams are all about and we're in the show so I'm pretty happy about that. We're all in this together. Last week was a tough one as I said but everyone on the team pulled in one direction and that's what we need. This year is going to be difficult, a learning year. I'm really proud of my guys today. It was good to get the Juicy Fruit car in the show."

SAM HORNISH JR. (No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger) Qualified 31st

"Pretty bad. We're not really happy with that. We did our first practice qualifying run in practice and we were really happy with it and then we've tried to make adjustments but we couldn't get the car back to where we were at and we couldn't make it any better. It's a little bit frustrating right now Obviously we're in between Kurt and Ryan but we've got figure out how to get a little bit closer to where Ryan's at. The car, you just can't keep it turning in the middle of the corner and every time we try to free it up there we just seem to get a little looser in or off."

***

BOBBY LABONTE (No. 43 Cheerios/Sam's Club Dodge Charger) Qualified 34th

"It was a disappointing lap for the Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge. The good news is that the conditions are going to change so much between qualifying and race setup that we have some time to make the necessary adjustments on the car. You're always trying to qualify in the top 10. We just missed today and have to work harder during the race to work our way up in the field."

***

PATRICK CARPENTIER (No. 10 LifeLock Dodge Charger) Qualified 37th

"This morning I had some difficulty with the brakes and I didn't mention it. It was kind of my fault there. I had a feeling like I was going to regret it and I thought about something else and forgot abut it and I thought it would be okay. But when I got into corner one I had no brakes. The pedal just went straight. I missed the corner and in panic went into three and four and got loose and didn't come out on the exit so it screwed my second lap up."

***

KURT BUSCH (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger) Qualified 40th

"Not much we can say about qualifying. When we tested here we thought that we had a good car, it just didn't show up today. We just have to look forward to tomorrow night's practice to see what we can do to get the Miller Lite Dodge better."
