Aaron's Pontiac driver Johnny Benson comes to Dover this week with the
chassis he scored his best career finish in - a second at Bristol back in
March. He also ran this car here in June and had a top 10 run in the works
when a cut tire dropped him to 15th in the final rundown.
14
Rick Mast's first trip to Dover this year was a forgettable one, as he
survived only three laps before being involved in an incident. He looks for
better results this weekend with the same chassis that he ran here in June.
He last drove this car at Michigan where he qualified third, but finished
29th due to mechanical gremlins.
18
This chassis Bobby Labonte's concrete workhorse, doing all the work on that
surface during the past couple seasons. He won here in 1999 with this
chassis and finished third with it here in June. Its two other appearances
in 2000 have resulted in finishes of sixth and 15th at Bristol.
20
Home Depot Grand Prix driver Tony Stewart dominated Dover back in June with
this chassis, leading 242 of 400 laps. He has since run this car at
Bristol, finishing second last month. In seven starts over the past two
seasons with this chassis, Stewart has one win, five top fives and has led
879 of a possible 3,200 laps (27.5 percent).
22
If history means anything, Ward Burton could expect a good run here this
weekend as he wheels a chassis that has nine top 10s in 11 career starts.
So far in 2000, he has earned one win, two top five and five top 10 finishes
with this piece in six attempts.
27
This version of the Viagra Grand Prix was brand new when Mike Bliss
qualified 20th and finished 28th at Darlington earlier this month. His
first trip to Dover back in June ended with an accident and a 35th place
finish.
36
M&M's Pontiac driver Ken Schrader posted his second top 10 of the season
last week at New Hampshire and now has six straight top 20 finishes. He is
making his second start of the season with this chassis, having earned a
12th with it at Bristol. Schrader's June appearance here resulted in a 23rd
place finish.
43
John Andretti and relief driver Kyle Petty combined for a 13th place finish
during the June race at Dover, while Andretti continued to mend from a
broken rib. This weekend, Andretti -- who is coming off a season-best
seventh place finish last week at New Hampshire -- is driving a revamped
chassis that has yet to make a 2000 start.
44
Steve Grissom, who will roll off 24th in Friday's Craftsman Truck Series
race, is looking to make his fourth Winston Cup start of the 2000 season
this weekend in a chassis that has yet to make a start this year.
93
Dave Blaney is hoping the bad luck has been flushed out of this chassis
after its first three trips to the track. He posted an accident-shortened
35th place finish with it in the spring race at Bristol, crashed it in
qualifying here Dover in June and finished 43rd with it last month at
Bristol when a crash ended his night after just 49 laps.
