Sadler hoping to get a chance in the 28

Elliott Sadler and his No. 21 Wood Brothers racing team have been in the center of the rumor mill all season long. Sadler asked for his release from the team at California the end of the season, and since than, the top word has Sadler moving to Robert Yates Racing's No. 28.

The 28's current driver, Ricky Rudd, has yet to make an announcement as to whether he will continue to race, or retire. Everyone, including Sadler, is highly anticipating Rudd's decision. "I am waiting to kind of see, just like everybody else, what the announcement is going to be with the 28 car. I've kind of put a lot of eggs in that basket and I'm willing to take that chance to wait to see what happens. I know it's a big chance, but that's something that I'm willing to do."

"It might bite me real bad. I might have to go and try something else, but I think I'm willing to take that chance. I feel like that's a chance I need to take. I couldn't live with myself if I sold myself short and not get my chance to get in that car ,so I'm just kind of waiting it out."

Sadler is determined to make the best of the remainder of his time with the Wood Brothers until he knows his future.He currently holds two top five and four top-10 finishes. "Eddie (Wood) and I made a promise to each other that we would try to go out here and try to win as many races as we can and run as hard as we can. We've climbed to 20th in the points and qualified so much better than we ever have that we feel like we're doing a pretty good job I think."

"Pat (Tryson, crew chief) and I are really hitting on all eight cylinders right now, the way we're qualifying and the way we're running has been unbelievable compared to how we usually run."

"We were kind of disappointed by where we are in the points, but we have come back from 25th just a couple weeks ago, so we are definitely making strides in the right direction. We think we can call it a pretty successful year if we can get back into the top 15 in points and try to get us a pole. We have really been working as hard as we can to try to get a pole this year. We've got really close, but just haven't been able to close out the deal and also get us another win."
