HOUSTON (March 3, 2000) - NASCAR Winston Cup Series driver Steve Park logged a top-10 finish in his yellow #1 Pennzoil car during last weekend's race at "The Rock." Now, he's on a mission to drive a red #1 Pennzoil car into victory lane. This weekend, Park slides behind the wheel of Pennzoil's red "Mission to Mars" car as he prepares for the CarsDirect.com NASCAR race to be held March 5th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. For this weekend only, Park's #1 Pennzoil Chevrolet Monte Carlo car is re-painted and decked out in "Mission To Mars" movie graphics. This one-time paint job celebrates Pennzoil Synthetic motor oil's Hollywood debut in Touchstone Pictures' new film "Mission To Mars," which is scheduled for nationwide release on March 10. Pennzoil has tagged the new synthetic motor oil "Rocket Science for Your Car". "Although the NASCAR 2000 season is still young, Steve and the team are already on a mission to win," said crew chief Paul Andrews. "It doesn't matter to us if the car is painted red and black and covered in "Mission To Mars" graphics when it pulls into victory lane. The fans will still be able to see a big yellow #1 on the side and a big grin on Steve Park's face." In addition to side panel graphics illustrating a space rover and three astronauts walking on the surface of Mars, Park's car will have Pennzoil Synthetic motor oil graphics on the back. The paint scheme and graphics on the race car were developed by Sam Bass Illustration & Design, Inc.
