Notes: This is the same combination of left- and right-side tires Goodyear has brought to Talladega since May 1997, making this the 14th consecutive race . . . that is the longest running track-tire combination in the current Goodyear line . . . this is the only NASCAR track where these tires will be used in 2003 . . . Talladega and Daytona make up the Superspeedway Group in the 2003 Goodyear tire line, though each has its own unique combination . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Talladega . . . the air pressure in the inner liners must be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.

Goodyear Quote -- Mark Keto, Lead Engineer, Stock Car Tire Development: "This being the 14th straight race at Talladega that Goodyear has brought this particular tire set-up, this is the longest running combination and is obviously one of the most successful set-ups in the 2003 tire lineup. Because there is very little wear or give-up with these codes, two-tire stops have come to be expected at Talladega, even before NASCAR changed the rules and made teams run the smaller fuel cells."
