Carl Edwards set a fast pace early on Saturday morning with a lap of 131.456 mph. Although he completed 46 additional laps, the most of the session, his speeds slowed as the track heated up.
Denny Hamlin was second quick (131.264 mph) followed by their Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Matt Kenseth (131.914 mph) and the Chevys of Kevin Harvick (130.914 mph), Chase Elliott (130.855 mph) and Kasey Kahne (130.792 mph). Kyle Busch (130.752 mph), Brad Keselowski (130.792 mph), Kurt Busch (130.573 mph) and Kyle Larson (130.501 mph) rounded out the top 10 single laps speeds.

Edwards also led the Best 10 Consecutive Lap Average runs with a speed of 130.452 mph. Defending race winner Kyle Busch was second (130.236 mph) followed by Keselowski (129.994 mph), Elliott (129.787 mph), Hamlin (129.685 mph), Kurt Busch (129.581 mph), Kenseth (129.495 mph), Joey Logano (129.479 mph), Kyle Larson (129.376 mph) and Tony Stewart (129.225 mph).
Although Larson feels the Magic Mile is not one of his best tracks, the Chip Ganassi Racing driver thought he improved during the second practice for the New Hampshire 301.
"Free in, not really as bad as yesterday," Larson said. "I lack a little bit of drive off. Whenever those fast guys pass me, they can arc the corner way better than me."
