DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 12, 1999) The 2000 schedule will feature 34 NASCAR Winston Cup Series championship point events at 21 race tracks across the country and will show little change from the 1999 schedule, it was announced Tuesday by Mike Helton, senior vice president and chief operating officer of NASCAR. Additionally, two non-point races, the Bud Shootout at Daytona International Speedway and The Winston at Lowe's Motor Speedway, will round out the 2000 lineup.

One minor change to the schedule for 2000 involves the spring race at Bristol Motor Speedway flip-flopping weekends with the Texas Motor Speedway event.

"We have spent the last several years building the NASCAR Winston Cup Series schedule into an extremely strong lineup," said Helton. "The schedule includes NASCAR's typical assortment of superspeedway, short-track and road course excitement."
