Canadian Gary Klutt to make Truck debut at Mosport with KBM

Klutt, 24, will drive KBM’s No. 51 Toyota in the Sept. 4 race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, filling in for driver Cody Coughlin, who was originally scheduled to drive in the race.

Coughlin will instead be racing Late Models at Winchester (Ind.), trying to maintain his points lead in both the ARCA/CRA Super Series and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. No driver has ever won both Champion Racing Association championships in the same season.

“Ever since 2013 when I first saw the trucks run in Canada, I knew that I had to get in one and this year everything just came together,” said Klutt. “This is an incredible opportunity and first off I have to thank Cody Coughlin and everyone at JEGS.

“I am proud to make my NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut with one of the top teams in the sport. It means a lot to have the support from Kyle Busch Motorsports, the No. 51 team and JEGS for this next step in my racing career.

“It’s going to be a special moment to return to the place where I earned my first win last year in the Pinty’s Series, and I hope to make another trip to Victory Lane.”

Klutt, who will also compete in the Pinty’s Series race at Mosport the same day, is currently in his second season driving fulltime in the Pinty's Series. He won the 2015 season opener at CTMP and overall has four top-10 finishes in six starts at the 1.37-mile road course.

Klutt finished fifth in points last season with one victory.  He is eighth so far this season with five top-10 finishes in nine starts. His best finish this season was sixth at Toronto.

KBM will be looking for its second consecutive win at CTMP as driver Erik Jones won last season’s event.
