Coughlin will be racing the No. 2 Jegs Chevrolet in honor of veterans around the world at the Corrigan Oil 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Saturday at Michigan International Speedway.
“Being the only NASCAR driver this season to be associated with the organization is something special for Coughlin.
“I am super excited and honored to be supporting our veterans,” Coughlin said. “The difficulties they experience as they lay their lives on the line for us leaves me without words.
“I hope to help be able to shed light on the importance of what they do and help them receive the treatment they deserve. Again, it is such an extreme honor to be a part of a great organization like DAV.”
In addition to the new partnership with DAV, Coughlin also participated in the filming of the movie “God Bless the Broken Road” which highlights and pays tribute to those who serve or have served in the United States military.
A great experience
The film opens on Sept. 7, and Coughlin has a cameo in the movie that was partially filmed at Berlin (Mich.) Speedway.
“It is a been a true joy to be a part of this experience,” said Coughlin. “I have made so many great friends during the process, in addition to the fact that it’s a great movie with a great message. I’m looking forward to seeing its success once it hits theatres in less than a month.
“While this was a new experience for me, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all that went into making this movie happen, but I’m even more excited to final be able to share this experience with everyone.”
The film has partnered with DAV, a nonprofit charity dedicated to providing support to disabled American veterans and their families, and together launched the #BlessAVet campaign.
Through the #BlessAVet initiative, the public can donate a ticket to “God Bless The Broken Road” and $25 Restaurant.com gift card to an American veteran. In addition, a portion of the proceeds from the film goes to DAV.
