Busch won all three stages of Friday night’s N.C. Education Lottery 200 and earned his second consecutive victory in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this season.
Busch held off his Kyle Busch Motorsports teammate, Christopher Bell, on a restart with three of 134 laps remaining and easily cruised to his 48th career victory and seventh at Charlotte.
After taking the checkered flag, Busch provided the fans in the stands a burnout that covered the frontstretch in thick, white smoke.
“These guys pour their hearts and souls into these trucks and what we do (at KBM). It’s awesome to get back-to-back wins and get back to Victory Lane again,” Busch said in Victory Lane.
“This is a true testament to everybody at Kyle Busch Motorsports. We’re all working as a cohesive group and the guys are doing a great job. It was challenging there in the middle section of the race – I didn’t know what was going on half the time.
“I’m proud of the whole team effort.”
Johnny Sauter ended up second, Bell – who fell two laps down early in the race – was third, Ryan Truex finished fourth and Timothy Peters rounded out the top-five.
“We had a second-place truck and we ran third with it so it’s a little bit frustrating,” Bell said. “We’ll be back and stronger than ever at Dover.”
Stage 2
With two laps remaining in the second, 40-lap segment, Busch used a deft three-wide move to return to the lead and claimed the Stage 2 victory over Sauter.
Matt Crafton finished third in the Stage, followed by Ben Rhodes and Bell, who at one point was two laps down early in the race.
As the Stage ended, John Hunter Nemechek and Brett Moffitt got caught up in an accident between Turns 1 and 2, with both trucks suffering damage.
During pit stops after the Stage break, Crafton was penalized for speeding on pit road and had to start the final segment from the rear of the field.
Kaz Grala, who won the series’ season-opener at Daytona, was involved in different accidents during the Stage and eventually went to the garage, bringing an early end to his night.
Stage 1
Busch led 38 of the 40 laps of the first segment to claim the Stage victory over Sauter in dominating fashion.
Nemechek was third, Crafton fourth and Chase Briscoe fifth.
Late in the Stage, Austin Cindric, who graduated from high school on Friday morning, spun exiting Turn 4 in an incident with Ross Chastain.
Cindric fell a lap down but returned to the lead lap when the caution was displayed the completion of the Stage.
