FORT WORTH-DALLAS (June 7, 2000) - It's going to be a busy weekend for the Lawler family who will be competing at Texas Motor Speedway. Father Patrick will be seeking to make a mark in his debut in the Pronto Auto Parts 400 NASCAR Craftsman Series Truck race Friday night, June 9. His son, Ryan, will be seeking similar glory in Legends Cars racing scheduled for Friday and Saturday afternoons.

Patrick's involvement in the Pronto Auto Parts 400 truck race carries many ties to Legends Car racing. Patrick was one of the top Pro Division racers in the Southwest during his Legends Car career as he visited victory lanes across Texas. Patrick's Manheim Auto Auction of Texas Chevrolet is owned by former Texas Ranger relief pitcher Jeff Russell who has raced Legends. Former state Legends champion David Umscheid is the team's crew chief.

Ryan is the defending Bandolero Division champion at the speedway's summer Thursday Night Stampede series. He moved into Legends racing late last season and won several Charger class races. Thirteen-year-old Ryan will be racing in the Semi Pro Division.

"It would be great if we had a good race in the truck and Ryan did well in the Legends," said Patrick. "I'm sure Ryan will get plenty of advice from us!"

Legends Cars and Bandoleros will compete Friday and Saturday beginning at 3:00 PM. Both classes will compete on the frontstretch quarter-mile paved oval. The short track racing action is part of the pre-race show for Friday's Pronto Auto Parts 400 and Saturday's Casino Magic 500.

Tickets for both races are available at the speedway ticket office, by calling (817) 215-8500 or at Ticketmaster locations.
