Looking back, ahead of NASCAR's 500th Truck race

NASCAR's Camping World Truck Series (CWTS) has grown exponentially from that first race in February of 1995; the Skoal Bandit Copper World Classic at Phoenix International Raceway.

Since its beginnings in the South-West, the third of NASCAR's three national series has expanded across the United States, even going North of the boarder into Canada. It's considered by many to be the most enthralling racing on the NASCAR circuit today and I'd have to agree with that sentiment.

Today, this once experimental series will put on its 500th show at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Apart from the racing, the Trucks serve as a bridge for regional racers hoping to move their career to the next level. It takes a lot of versatility to race in this so-called ladder series too, being the only division of NASCAR that runs on ovals, road courses and dirt.

The CWTS has provided unparalleled drama across the board over the last twenty years and its rich history can't be properly summarized in this brief piece, but here's a taste of what you've missed if you're unfamiliar with the Trucks.

Remarkable finishes

Heart-stopping accidents

Tempers flaring
