Starr Shines Bright at Martinsville

Martinsville, VA -- October 23, 2010. David Starr had his strongest race since joining the SS Green Light Racing team five weeks ago bringing the No. 81 Zachry Toyota across the checkers in seventh place.

The seventh place finish is David's second best of the season, bettered only by a sixth place run at Dover back in May.

David qualified the Zachry No. 81 Toyota Tundra thirteenth in the thirty-six-truck field on Friday afternoon with a lap of 19.91 seconds at over 95 mph. It was David's thirteenth top-fifteen qualifying effort of the year.

After dropping to fourteenth at the start, David showed the strength of his Toyota making a nice charge to the top-ten in the races first twenty-five laps. Starr would give up his top-ten position under the races third caution to correct a little tightness in turns three and four on lap forty bringing the Zachry Tundra to the attention of the Jason Miller-led crew and restarted twenty-second.

With fresh Goodyear's it would only take 20 laps for Starr to power his way back into the top-fifteen and he had moved up to the thirteenth position when the races fifth caution flew on lap ninety-two when he would again bring the Zachry Toyota to the attention of the SS Green Light crew.

Starr and teammate Jason White would slice through the field following the restart moving into the top-fifteen on lap 120 and up to thirteenth on lap 130. Miller kept Starr on the track when the sixth caution flag flew on lap 149 moving the No. 81 up to ninth on the grid.

The action on track was heating up and drivers were not giving much room causing several quick cautions. David took advantage by moving up to the sixth spot when another caution flew on lap 165.

Three more cautions would fly over the races final thirty laps and David was fighting hard to hold positions on each of the doublewide restarts. David was dropped back to eighth on several occasions late in the race, but fought back hard to seventh at the checkers, his best finish since joining the SS Green Light team at Chicago.

Crew Chief Miller and the entire SS Green Light team was pleased with the entire weekend. "David was happy with the truck and we were all happy with the results. It's the first time David had ever qualified in the nineteen-second bracket so we were pleased with our starting position. I felt we had a top-five truck and David did a great job of give and take on those last couple restarts. I felt he was a great teammate when he was behind Jason, there was a lot of beating and banging, but David kept his cool."

"I really have to commend Goodyear for bringing a great tire here," Miller continued. "The tire fell off nicely after 40 laps or so and it changed the strategy of pitting on lap thirty and running out to the end that we have seen here in the past. Fresh tires meant a couple tenths and that made for a real interesting race."

"All the trucks were so equal at the end, the top-ten were running nearly identical lap times. It made for some great racing to watch."

Starr holds ninth in the NCWTS point standings behind leader Todd Bodine and is only 49 points behind Mike Skinner for eighth and 115 points ahead of teammate Jason White in tenth.

Starr and the SS Green Light team will travel from the slowest track on the circuit to the fastest track when the NCWTS travels to the Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday for the Mountain Dew 250.
