Odds for Kyle Bush win in Charlotte are 4 in 7

MOORESVILLE, N.C. - When the field takes the green flag for Friday night's N.C. Education Lottery 200, Kyle Busch will be looking to cash in on his fifth career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway (CMS).

In seven career Truck Series starts at the 1.5-mile oval, Busch has visited victory lane a track record four times, including in the 2005 event when he picked up his first of 30 career wins in NASCAR's third division.

The Las Vegas native enters Friday night's 134-lap event with wins in his last two Truck Series starts at Charlotte. In 2011, he spun near the halfway mark of the race and then rallied for an emotional victory as he was paying remembrance to Zahra Baker - a 10-year-old Hickory, N.C. girl who was found slain in 2010 shortly after meeting two of Kyle Busch Motorsports young drivers at a Speedway Children's Charities event held at CMS.

After Busch collected the checkered flag, he immediately walked to Bakers picture on the side of his truck and was "kissed by an angel." In 2010, the Toyota Racing driver led a race-high 69 laps en route to the second victory for his newly established Truck Series program.

Unlike winners of the N.C. Education Lottery, NASCAR's loop data shows that the driver of the No. 51 ToyotaCare Tundra hasn't lucked into his wins at CMS. Busch leads all drivers over the last eight Truck Series events at the venue in almost every single loop data category, including the most telling ones: Driver Rating (129.2), Average Finish (3.6), Laps Led (335), Fastest Laps Run (205) and Green Flag Speed (174.556 mph).

Why do you consider Charlotte your favorite track? "Before I got started in NASCAR, I grew up watching what use to be The Winston and is now the Sprint All-Star race on television. That was always the most exciting race to watch and Charlotte quickly became my favorite track.

It's a unique track -- Turns 1 and 2 are far different from Turns 3 and 4 and that seems to be a challenge for a lot of drivers because they don't understand what it takes to be fast.

I've been pretty successful in all three series there, so I'm looking forward to trying to get my first win in the All-Star race and trying to continue the tradition of winning in the truck and Nationwide Series car these next few weeks."

Will you have some special guests attending Friday night's race? "We will have a group of guests from Barium Springs -- one of the homes that the Kyle Busch Foundation supports and is located near our shop out in Troutman - out there on Friday night. Thanks to a kind donation from the track, we were able to provide them with a block of tickets.

Little things like this mean a lot to kids that don't have a lot, so it's always cool when you can be a part of providing them with a special opportunity. Hopefully, we can make it even more special by getting to bow to them in the stands after the race."

Being a new team, will the extra practice time on Thursday be beneficial? "For sure -- the extra practice time on Thursday will allow us to try a couple of new ideas that we've been wanting to experiment with.

On a normal race weekend, we don't have enough time to experiment, so by NASCAR setting up this test it helps the teams out.

Hopefully, we can learn a few things that will help us to continue to improve our trucks. Also, with this team being put together just before the season started, it will allow us to continue to get used to working with Kyle (Busch) and with each other."
