Peters and RHR moving in the right direction heading to Chicagland

ON A ROLL: It is no secret that the 2012 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series has been one for the record books for Red Horse Racing driver Timothy Peters. The driver was able to capture his first win of the season last weekend at Iowa Speedway which will continue to fuel his No. 17 Toyota Tundra team's momentum heading into Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday. With the turnaround on the 1.5-mile program so far this season, Peters has nothing but excitement for the American Ethanol 225. The driver has three starts at the D-shaped oval, with one top-10 finish to his credit.

HE'S A STAT MAN: Last weekend marked the eighth different Truck Series winner in nine races this season. In nine races, Peters has captured one pole, one win, six top five and eight top 10 finishes. His dominant race at Iowa Speedway moved his average finishing position from 6.0 to 5.4. There are only three drivers that have completed 100% of all the laps raced. Peters is one of them.

HOMETOWN HEROS: Butch Hylton, crew chief of the No. 17 Toyota Tundra has an extra bit of excitement when heading to the 1.5-mile of Chicagoland Speedway. Hylton has some of his fondest memories associated with the town of Rockford, Illinois, just two hours southeast of the track. Hylton joined the NASCAR circuit in 1990 and has been a part of Red Horse Racing family since 2011.

Just two hours south of the speedway you will find Farmer City, IL which is home to team engineer, Craig Noble. Noble moved to North Carolina in 2007 after completing the engineering program at the University of Illinois.

CHASSIS HISTORY: This weekend at Chicagoland Speedway, Peters and his No. 17 Toyota Tundra team will race chassis No. 073. Most recently, the chassis scored a fifth-place finish at Kentucky Speedway after a seventh-place qualifying spot. The chassis' debut was on April 21st at Kansas Speedway, where the team qualified for the event in the 10th place and brought home a second-place finish to the Red Horse Racing stable.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: It was a weekend of firsts for Peters as the Truck Series raced at Iowa Speedway for the American Ethanol 200. Peters captured the pole for the 200-lap event and was able to stay in the top three positions all night, capturing his first win of the season. The pole position was also Peters' first of the season, alongside his first win at the 0.875-mile speedway. Peters left Iowa with a 12 point lead over second place in the championship point standings, the largest lead to date this year.

Timothy Peters talks about Chicagoland Speedway:

Talk about your experience at Chicagoland. "I've always liked Chicago. It was a great track for us to go test at before it got added to the Truck Series schedule. I've only had one good finish there when I joined Red Horse Racing in 2009. This year we have changed things around in our 1.5-mile program, and we have gotten our best results at these types of tracks. So, I am really looking forward to going back."

What is your outlook on the point's standings now as the Series is gearing up for the summer stretch? "We know that the competition is going to get tough. The series has already proven that this season. With the tough competition, that means the mistakes need to be very slim on our part. If we keep running like we are and putting down the finishes that have, we hope that next win is around the corner. It would be nice if we could knock off a couple wins in the summer stretch. Momentum from a win is going to keep us moving in the right direction."
