Jason White Shuffled Out of Draft at Race End

Talladega, AL -- October 30, 2010. Jason White's GunBroker.com/Pursuit Channel Ford was one of the dominant trucks in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Mountain Dew 250 at the Talladega Superspeedway. Running in the top-five the entire race did not result in the finish the Virginia native had hoped for, getting shuffled out of the draft on the last lap resulting in a disappointing ninth place finish.

White almost won his second career Pole, qualifying the GunBroker.com/Pursuit Channel No. 23 Ford on the outside of the front row Friday afternoon with a lap of 52.93 seconds at 180.91 mph behind Ron Hornaday Jr.

Jason quickly showed how strong his truck was jumping to the front on the first lap and holding the point for the races first nine laps until Hornaday would blast by on the outside. Jason would settle into third where he would ride until the races first caution on lap twenty-six.

Jason restarted fourth and moved up to third shortly after the green flew again, and would run nearly the entire race in the top-five staying out of harms way and waiting to make his move to towards the lead when the time was right.

The second caution would fly on lap sixty-one and the SS Green Light team did a fantastic job, with White coming out of the pits in second place. At the green, he would power to the front of the field again before Matt Crafton would push by on his outside, dropping Jason to third. Jason would jump behind Kyle Busch several laps later, pushing Busch to the point and settling the GunBroker.com/Pursuit Channel Ford into second place.

Caution flew again on lap seventy-five, and White shoes to keep the No. 23 on the track to keep his track position while many of the other leaders came to the pits for Sunoco fuel. Shortly after the restart, Hornaday would power past, dropping Jason to fourth. With only six laps to go a fourth caution few, and Jason again restarted fourth. Jason looked to be ready to make his move to the front.

That move came when White again pushed Busch to the point before Aric Almirola and Johnny Sauter blasted by on the outside dropping Jason back to fourth as the white flag flew. Jason made his move to the outside with the No. 31 of James Buescher behind. No other trucks joined them in the outside line and the pair began to fall back. Buescher cut back to the inside line and left Jason hung-out to dry, all alone on the outside where he lost multiple positions without drafting help.

The lead pack sliced and diced for the last half lap with Busch taking the checkers over Almirola and Sauter in the three-wide photo finish. Jason would recover to ninth at the flag, but it is not the finish the team was hoping for after running the entire race in the top-five.

"I knew what happened riding in third at the end of the Daytona race and I wasn't just going to sit there," White said following the race. "It seemed like everyone was just content to ride, so I knew I was the one who had to make a move. I thought I had some help and then I just got hung out, it was crazy."

"Man, the GunBroker truck ran in the top-three the entire race so it's disappointing not to finish better, but it doesn't not have a scratch on it and we'll go back and make it better for Daytona."

With his seventh top-ten of the year, Jason holds tenth place in the NCWTS point standings behind leader Todd Bodine with three races remaining. He is now sixty-nine points ahead of Ricky Carmichael.
