Texas: Toyota teams qualifying quotes

TODD BODINE, No. 30 Valvoline Germain.com Toyota Tundra, Germain Racing Starting Position: 4th How was your qualifying run? "It was good, wide open. That's the thing about Texas, it's who can hold it wide open the longest and who has the least.

TODD BODINE, No. 30 Valvoline Germain.com Toyota Tundra, Germain Racing
Starting Position: 4th

How was your qualifying run? "It was good, wide open. That's the thing about Texas, it's who can hold it wide open the longest and who has the least. I think we have a decent truck and the drive is good."

Does it matter where you qualify for tomorrow's race? "It helps to be up toward the front for sure so you don't have to worry about getting there. Anywhere near the front is good enough."

ARIC ALMIROLA, No. 51 Zyclara Graceway Pharmaceuticals Toyota Tundra, Billy Ballew Motorsports
Starting Position: 10th

How was your qualifying lap? "It was pretty good. That was as fast as it would go. We had a good truck, we know we had a good truck all day. I'm happy with that lap."

TIMOTHY PETERS, No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra, Red Horse Racing
Starting Position: 11th

How is your truck after practice and qualifying at Texas? "Our truck was really good in race trim. Jeff Hensley (crew chief) and all the guys give me a good Toyota Tundra each and every week. I wanted to be a little bit better than that because we mocked up in practice and ran a little bit quicker than that. I can't say enough about the whole team. Tom DeLoach (owner) gave me an awesome opportunity and now it's all in my hands. We just need to go out there and win tomorrow."

***

DAVID STARR, No. 81 Zachry Toyota Tundra, Randy Moss Motorsports
Starting Position: 12th

How was your qualifying run? "Our Zachry Toyota Tundra was pretty awesome today. In practice it was good, in second practice it was good and in qualifying we ran two laps wide open, arced it. The line was really good and that was all she had. Obviously we have a little drag on these Toyota trucks. We'll get a decent starting spot and I feel like we have a good truck that can win the race tomorrow night. We're excited. I'm excited because the truck is so good. I know we gave up a little bit in qualifying, but it was wide open, felt great and we'll start where we'll start. I'm pretty happy with my Randy Moss Motorsports team, Doug Wolcott (crew chief) is doing a great job. We're building momentum and getting better and better every week and I'm excited."

***

JOHNNY BENSON, No. 18 Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports
Starting Position: 13th

How was your qualifying laps? "It was good. Our Tundra drove great. We made a couple of changes from practice to there and that was the first time I ran a qualifying run. It was good, real stable and I think it's going to race really well. I'm pretty excited about that."

***

NELSON PIQUET JR., No. 15 ArcSite/Qualcomm Toyota Tundra, Billy Ballew Motorsports
Starting Position: 14th

How was your truck during qualifying? "The truck was perfect. Two laps flat out. Maybe I could have scrubbed a little bit more speed but I wasn't sure. I was trying to keep the line sight just in case the truck would tighten and I'd scrub into the wall. It was really good. I'm really happy. It was better than I expected. I'm happy and I think for the race we'll have a really good truck."

***

JUSTIN LOFTON, No. 7 VisitPit.com Toyota Tundra, Red Horse Racing
Starting Position: 16th

How is your truck at Texas after practice and qualifying? "Our truck was perfect. It was honestly probably the best we've ever had any of our trucks all year long. We thought it would go a little faster than that but I guess it's all it has in it. We have a great race truck for tomorrow and I'm looking forward to running up front with these guys and competing for a win here at Texas."

***

MIKE SKINNER, No. 5 International Trucks/Monaco RV Toyota Tundra, Randy Moss Motorsports
Starting Position: 17th

How were your qualifying laps? "Horribly slow. We've been slow ever since the first day we brought this truck out. We keep working with it thinking we're going to get it developed. It drove great, wide open all the way the race track with the brakes pulled back. It's just as fast as it will go. We're probably going to try something different for Michigan and maybe rethink where the body is on this truck or something. I hate it. I have a whole row of pole trophies from this place and to come here and qualify 10th or 15th or 20th is pretty hard on me."
