Three trophies for Alex Guénette at NASCAR Awards Banquet

With the highest number of points for a rookie, Alex won the “Rookie of The Year” award and trophy for 2013.

Montréal – NASCAR honoured its champions at a formal banquet held at Charlotte (NC) last Friday evening.

Terrebonne (Quebec) racer Alex Guenette had a busy evening at the ceremony, earning himself three trophies as a result of his excellent rookie season in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, the strongest racing series in Canada.

With the highest number of points for a rookie, Alex won the “Rookie of The Year” award and trophy for 2013. In fact, his total point score placed him 10th overall, earning a second trophy.

At the end of every season, NASCAR organises a contest to determine the most popular driver of the year, to recognise the driver and team that is most recognised by the fans and does the best job when it comes to marketing and communications. Guénette and the Moto Illimitées team also won that competition, thus winning the “Most Popular Driver” award and trophy.

The triple award winner enjoyed the moment. “Here I was with virtually all the top team personnel and officials in NASCAR. I did my utmost to establish some key contacts with people who I will work with as I go up the NASCAR racing ladder. Standing in front of that whole crowd was a thrill I will always remember.”

Alex and the team will be back on track for ARCA Series and NASCAR Camping World Trucks Series events during the 2014 season. He also hopes to return for a second season in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series if the team can secure the required sponsorship.
