Hessert to Make First NASCAR Start
Will Race No. 9 Germain Racing Tundra at Phoenix and Homestead

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. - Tom Hessert is set to take another leap forward in his motorsports career. Hessert will pilot the No. 9 Germain Racing Toyota Tundra in Friday's Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway and next week's Ford 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The events will mark Hessert's first starts in one of NASCAR's top-three series.

Hessert, a native of Cherry Hill, N.J., finished second in the ARCA Series point standings last season driving the No. 77 Cherry Hill Classic Cars entry for Cunningham Motorsports. The 24 year-old collected one win, 10 top-fives and 15 top-10s. He completed 99.7% of possible laps in the 20-event schedule and led an impressive 388 laps throughout the season, more than any other competitor in 2010.

Hessert Comments on Making His First Start in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Competition:

"Racing in the Truck Series is a tremendous opportunity, especially pairing with a team like Germain Racing. Having a teammate like Todd Bodine is a priceless commodity. His experience and talent is a huge asset and should help out my learning curve significantly.

"I've raced a couple of times at Phoenix in open wheel cars. It's a place I'm familiar with and comfortable at. We have high expectations for a very solid showing and I can't wait for Friday. I hope that we position ourselves for another good run next week at Homestead.

"There are so many talented drivers in the Truck Series, guys like Bodine, Skinner, Hornaday and Busch are all part of the field. It's an honor to know that I'll be racing with them. The best part about being on the track with them, though, is that I can learn so much from them. That's what I'm really looking forward to. Watching those guys and seeing how they drive around the speedway will be like getting a masters degree in my racing education."
