GMS Racing was formed four seasons ago when Spencer Gallagher started competing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, now the team has grown to field three full-time truck teams and one full-time and one part-time NASCAR Xfinity Series entry.

The team won its first NASCAR championship last year when Johnny Sauter won his first Truck title. He’s once again leading the points and has already picked up a win this season at Dover (Del.) International Speedway earlier this month. The team has also scored wins this with Kaz Grala at Daytona and Chase Elliott at Martinsville.

Veteran crew chief Mike Beam was hired as competition director in 2015 and now serves as team general manager guiding an organization that leads Gallagher’s full-time rookie campaign in the NXS and also fielding cars for Ben Kennedy who will drive in 10 NXS races for the team this season.

The team is owned by Maurice Gallagher Jr., who is also principal owner of Las Vegas-based Allegiant Airlines.

“We’re working hard to assemble a great team at GMS and I appreciate all of the resources Mr. Gallagher has given us to build a first-class and successful race team,” said Beam.

“We’ve won a championship in the Camping World Truck Series and our goal is to defend that title this season and also build our Xfinity Series operation into a championship contender as well.”

Gallagher is competing for rookie of the year in the NXS and has scored one top-10 finish so far this season, at Richmond, Va.

“We look forward to working with Motorsport.com to bring race fans more information about our team and some of the talented staff we have here at GMS,” said Beam. “We have a young team that’s growing and we want our fans to grow with us as we compete in the NXS and NCWTS.”
