Akins Motorsports appoints General Manager
CONCORD, N.C. (May 12, 1999) Brad Akins, owner of Akins Motorsports, announced that he has promoted Doug Stringer to the position of General Manager of the Akins Motorsports operation. "Doug has been right beside me as we have gone through these changes and he knows the direction I intend to take both of these teams," Akins said. "I am still very involved with every aspect of this organization but feel very confident that Doug can carry out the daily decisions of Akins Motorsports."
Stringer, who has been with the organization for 18 months, will assist Akins in management of the team's new facility located in Concord, N.C. His duties range from coordinating team personnel, administrating needs of both crew chiefs, to other on-site activities at the new Akins Motorsports complex.
Akins Motorsports' stable consists of a pair of NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division entries -- series veteran Elton Sawyer, who won last week's race at New Hampshire, drives the No. 98 Lysol Ford, while former series Rookie of the Year Glenn Allen pilots the No. 38 Barbasol Ford.
