CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Jan. 7, 2000) The Kimberly-Clark Corporation revealed its plans for the 2000 NASCAR Busch Series season today with several of its consumer products brands. A NASCAR Busch Series team sponsor for six years, KLEENEX® and SCOTT® Brand Products, along with KOTEX® Feminine Products and HUGGIES® Baby Wipes, will sponsor Bobby Hillin Racing, LLC and the No. 8 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Bobby Hillin, Jr.
"We are looking forward to the NASCAR Busch Series 2000 season as sponsor of the No. 8 Bobby Hillin Racing Chevrolet Monte Carlo," said John Cook, sponsor representative for Kimberly-Clark Corporation. "Bobby has the experience and motivation, both as the driver and car owner, to field a very competitive team for our KLEENEX® and SCOTT® Brands.
Cook also pointed out that Kimberly-Clark has been a committed NASCAR Busch Series sponsor since 1993, a NASCAR "partner" in the sanctioning body's 50th Anniversary and NASCAR 2000 marketing platforms, and a supporter of Children's Speedway Charities and Motor Racing Outreach programs.
Bobby Hillin Racing, LLC, becomes the new home for the Kimberly-Clark racing effort. Hillin made his venture into NASCAR® Busch Series Grand National Division team ownership in 1997. On September 1, 1999, Bobby Hillin Racing, LLC and the principals of Millennium Motorsports, Inc. announced a formal merger. Millennium Motorsports, Inc., wants to establish a presence in NASCAR® through the acquisition, management, sponsorship development and promotion of various teams and drivers.
"We are very pleased to be working with the most recognizable brand name in advertising and marketing. Bobby has the opportunity to show his capability and talent as one of the serious contenders in the Busch Series. Our gratitude goes out to KLEENEX® for believing in our organization," stated Angelo S. Rotella, President and CEO of Millennium Motorsports.
Hillin, too, is enthused about the sponsorship.
"We are all very excited about our new affiliations with KLEENEX®," he said. "Their image is exactly what we want to represent. Everyone at Bobby Hillin Racing is committed to promoting Kimberly-Clark products."
"The KLEENEX® sponsorship has definitely given a positive boost to the whole race team," said Nick Short, Hillin's new crew chief. "This allows us to enter into the 2000 season with a winning attitude and the ability to turn that into reality."
