Larry Pearson To Drive For Buckshot Racing And Cheez-It® Crackers in 1999 NASCAR Busch Series Season

SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- The Buckshot Racing team announced today that two-time NASCAR Busch Series champion Larry Pearson will drive the No. 00 Cheez-It® Snack Cracker Pontiac for the 1999 NASCAR Busch Series season. Kenneth Campbell, former crew chief for the No. 37 Timber Wolf Busch Series and Craftsmen Truck Series teams in 1998, will head up the program from Spartanburg, S.C.

"I'm extremely excited about joining Buckshot Racing and Cheez-It® Snack Crackers in 1999," Pearson commented. "This is an established organization with excellent race cars. Kenneth Campbell is a very capable crew chief and I feel I am a very capable driver. All of the ingredients are there for a strong season."

"This is a great opportunity for me to be associated with Buckshot Racing and Cheez-It® Snack Crackers," said Campbell. "I consider this organization to be one of the top teams in the business and look forward to being part of it's success. Joining forces with past champion Larry Pearson and his brother Ricky is the chance of a lifetime."

Both Pearson and Campbell are confident they will be championship contenders throughout the 1999 season.

"There is no reason why we can't win races and be in the top five in the point standings," said Pearson. "It's been a long time since I have been able to say that, so I'm definitely looking forward to finding out what we can accomplish."

Pearson claimed his Busch Series championship titles in 1986 and 1987 driving for his father, legendary NASCAR Winston Cup champion David Pearson. From 1987 to 1991, Pearson drove a limited Winston Cup schedule with his father's team and then went on to drive for Larry Hedrick for two years.

In 1993, Pearson returned to the NASCAR Busch Series driving for Mac Martin in the Stanley Chevrolet until the team closed its doors midway through the 1996 season. Since beginning his Busch Series racing career in 1982, Pearson has competed in 247 races, has 15 wins, 78 top-five and 127 top-10 finishes.

Team owner Billy Jones, who's son Buckshot Jones will be moving to the NASCAR Winston Cup Series in 1999, looks for continued success in the NASCAR Busch Series.

"I feel we picked two of the most experienced people to be on this team," commented Jones. "I see this team being a leading contender for the NASCAR Busch Series championship in 1999. The support we have received in the past from Keebler Foods and the support we will receive from their Cheez-It® brand crackers is going to be a big part of this team's success. This team is a family and we could not have asked for a better family oriented sponsor than Cheez-It® Snack Crackers."

"Larry Pearson is already a proven champion driver and we are excited that the Cheez-It® brand can become a part of America's fastest growing and largest spectator sport," said V.P. of Marketing, Roger Kalinowski.
